Route 10,2 km Trail with 611 meters of difference in altitude; gradient max 35% - average 11,5%; difficulty: demanding.
If the dust, the mud, the cliffs and the jumps are your specialty and the extreme tiredness does not scares you, try the trail of the cross-country world cup, held on these mountains, defined as unique in the international circuit.
In 1994 a stage of the world MTB was held here in Capoliveri; it roused incredible success thanks to the difficulty of the trail combined with the multiplicity of the scenery, making it unique and extremely fascinating and technical. Route 41 km Trail with 1936 meters of difference in altitude; gradient max 24,3% - average 8%;
difficulty: extreme.
To test your skills or increase your workout, set off on an endurance test with your teammates or your holiday buddies, without ever taking the same narrow trails for 40 kilometres.
The “Parco Nazionale del Monte Calamita” allows you to create an endless loop and never take the same route twice. The following link shows you maps and suggestions from the experts.

5 Star Prison
Route 20 km Trail with 200 meters of difference in altitude; gradient average 6%; difficulty: medium; road mostly paved. Guided for groups of minimum 6 people, free for individuals, promiscuous traffic. Departure from Cavatore square in Capoliveri, free transport organised by Villaggio Innamorata, destination Porto Azzurro. Passing by Naregno and Marina di Capoliveri, we suggest a little stop for a walk along the seafront of Porto Azzurro, and then prepare yourself for the ascent to the antique Fort, now House of detention. You will arrive under the wall that surrounds it. Follow the trail that flanks it until you reach the Barbarossa Beach. Return to Villaggio Innamorata.
Back in time
Route 35 km with 300 meters of difference in altitude; gradient average 7%; difficulty: medium-high; road mostly paved. Guided for groups of minimum 6 people, free for individuals, promiscuous traffic. Departure from Cavatore square in Capoliveri, free transport organised by Villaggio Innamorata, destination Rio Elba. Rio Elba is a small village already known to the Etruscans for its iron, where time seems to stand still and where you can admire characteristic constructions like "l’Antico Lavatoio" and "l'Eremo di Santa Caterina" with its Botanical Garden of typical plants from Elba. Return to Villaggio Innamorata.
Flavours, scents and...
Route 15 km with 180 meters of difference in altitude; gradient average 6%; difficulty: easy; mainly dirt road. Guided for groups of minimum 6 people in April-May-beginning of June- from mid-September to mid-October, free for individuals. Cycle, pedestrian and car(only residents) traffic. Departure from Cavatore square in Capoliveri, free transport organised by Villaggio Innamorata, destination Villaggio delle Ripalte. Along the famous dirt road of the “Costa dei Gabbiani”, where the horizon gets lost behind the Islands of Montecristo, Pianosa and Corsica, the stops will be unavoidable to immortalize what your eyes will see. Admiring the variation of natural scenery, passed the Mines with their buildings, you will find yourself at the farm of the “Villaggio delle Ripalte” where you can taste the “Convio del Cavatore”, “Schiaccia Briaca” and the typical wine from Elba. You will be back before dark, passing through the favourite coastline chose by the famous french freediver Jacques Mayol for his accomplishments. Before going back to the Innamorata bay, there is going to be a break for wild goat sighting with an unforgettable sunset.

Following we introduce a selection of routes traced inside the park... “The Trilogy of the Loops”.
Low Loop Route
Route 23 km with 180 meters of difference in altitude; gradient average 6%; difficulty: medium; mainly dirt road.
Road mainly on a plain or light hill, except short sections, occasionally shaded and in the last part covered by bush. Departing from Cavatore square in Capoliveri you will arrive at the village of the Costa dei Gabbiani walking along Capoliveri’s coastline and dominating the tyrrhenian panorama that overlooks the west side of the island: Corsica, Pianosa and Montecristo. At the village of the Costa dei Gabbiani you will find kids playgrounds, pine forests and places where to have a drink and enjoy the full relax of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Return to Cavatore square via the Weather Station. (places of interest: Mines, White Beaches, Le Ripalte farm, Pine Forest, Aeronautics and Weather Station).
Medium Loop Route
Route 13 km with 360 meters of difference in altitude; gradient average 6%; difficulty: medium; mainly dirt road. Path unique of its kind, for long stretches free from cars. Immersed in the nature of the South Est Mount Calamita it will project your eye on the Tuscan coast, a stone’s throw away from Elba and it will guide you to beaches unreachable by car or bike. Departure from Cavatore square. Walking along the paved road to the beach of Straccoligno, take the route A of the Capoliveri Bike Park until you reach Villaggio della Costa dei Gabbiani. Return to Innamorata via “curva dell’Asta” (places of interest: Mines, search of residues of iron processing, Calanova, Istia, Stagnone, and Buzzancone beaches and Le Ripalte Village, Farm and Wine Cellar).
High Loop Route
Route10 km with 180 meters of difference in altitude; initial gradient 12%; medium-high gradient 6%; difficulty: medium; mainly dirt road.
Medium-high difficulty route with a steep climb in the first part. This itinerary combines the characteristics of the two previous routes with the only difference of having a view from an highest perspective. You will really overlook Mount Calamita and admire the Tyrrhenian Sea and part of the archipelagos. Departure from Cavatore square and climb up the trail of Zigurt, the only difficulty, before enjoying a unique landscape. As the maps will illustrate, the path runs along the top of the mountain making you enjoy a 360 degree landscape and go through all the microsystems of the park. Return to Innamorata via the “Sardina” descent and “curva dell’Asta” (places of interest: many belvedere, pine forests and little woods, ceases of Calanova and Le Ripalte Village, Farm and Wine Cellar).
